East of England Showground

Just Dogs Live, incorporating the East of England Championship Dog Show, welcomed
over 500 pet dogs and over 9,000 competitor dogs to the show for a fun packed weekend on 9th, 10th & 11th July 2010.
Only in its second year, Just Dogs Live raised over £1,700 for Pets as Therapy, by charging £3.00
per pet dog that attended the show. This money will enable the charity to fund many more
volunteers to help with the rehabilitation of people of all ages.
The show is firmly establishing itself as one of the biggest doggy days out for families in the
country. There were exciting demonstrations by the dogs and staff from HMP Whitemoor, Essex
Dog Display Team and Lains Shooting School & Mullenscote Gundogs. There was also a fast and
furious dog agility, gundog scurry and Cambridgeshire Canines Flyball Tournament, which
encouraged visitors to have-a-go with their pets!
Dog owners were also able to gain advice on behavioural issues and training from a number of
experts, including Paul Daly from Canine Coaching, Stan Rawlinson – the Original Dog Listener
and Paul Rawlinson - K9 Dogs Behaviour.
The East of England Championship Dog Show has been held at the Showground for over thirty
years, and is settling in to the revised layout, taking the show from midweek dates to a weekend
show. This has enabled the Show to expand to appeal to all dog owners.
Andrew Mercer, Chief Executive of the East of England Agricultural Society, organisers of Just
Dogs Live, said: "Just Dogs Live has been a great success and a wonderful weekend. Dog lovers of
all ages came along and helped to make a fantastic show. I am sure everybody has learnt
something new over the weekend."
"The use of the exec Peterborough exhibition hall for a
number of the displays and stakes classes meant the show was ‘weather-proof’ and provided
some welcome shade for visitors. It was also a glamorous environment for the best in group and
best in show judging."
Best in Show at the East of England Championship Dog Show was Ch Perrisblu Kennislain’s
Chelsey, a Kerry Blue Terrier, owned by Phil Davies and handled by Geoff Corish.
Although this year's show may be over, preparations are well underway to deliver another exciting show next year. Further details will be revealed over the next few months, please keep your eye on this page for more information.
