Top Dog! Judge’s choice Benji to front regional canine show in 2019
Meet five-year-old Rough Collie, Benji – the Face of Just Dogs Live 2019.
Top prize for the top dog was a photo shoot with professional dog photographer, Martin Hill – the results of which will appear on the marketing material for next year’s show in the coming months. Benji was among hundreds of dogs whose owners entered them into an online competition run by Just Dogs Live.
Benji and his owners Bex and Michael Wensley from Corby, Northamptonshire recently accompanied the photogenic pooch on location to claim his prize; with fantastic results.
Bex said: “We both adore taking photos of Benji. Everywhere we go, people smile and tell us how lovely he is so we feel really honoured that he’s been picked to be the face of 2019. We had a fantastic time on location with Martin, who really captured the true Benji.”
Bex and Michael have owned Benji (Kennel Club name Benjamin Button) for four and a half years.
Bex added: “We’ve had Benji since he was about six months old. As an unwanted puppy, Benji didn’t have the best start to life and required a lot of love and care.
“Despite a difficult start, he’s such a kind and forgiving soul. He absolutely loves people and at home, he’s fairly chilled out. However, take Benji to an agility ring and you’ll see a completely different side to him.
“We’ve entered Benji into a few fun competitions, but never anything serious. He’s won a few including ‘Judges’ Favourite’ and most notably ‘Best Paw Shaker’, where he demonstrated offering all four (yes – even his back ones!) on command.
“We’ve visited Just Dogs Live every year since Benji joined our family, and it has become a firm favourite to go along to with family and friends, especially those coming from further away. There’s always something for everyone to enjoy.”
Martin, a Kennel Club approved photographer, added: “I was delighted to be asked by Just Dogs Live to judge this competition and the entries were amazing. Although there were so many fabulous dogs to choose from, there was just something about Benji that was particularly captivating, and he was such a beautiful and elegant dog to work with and photograph.”
Ryan Moroney, head of operations at EEAEC, commented: “This is the first time we have launched a competition of this kind at Just Dogs Live and the response was overwhelming. We are thrilled for Benji, Bex and Michael and the results of the photo shoot are simply stunning.”
Benji’s face will now be used by Just Dogs Live organisers on posters and adverts to promote next year’s event, which will take place on July 5/6/7 2019 www.justdogslive.co.uk
